Musical Mondays: LISA BLASKO!

On this Musical Monday, we’re celebrating Lisa Blasko!

Lisa Blasko – Harding, Garfield

Background – I grew up in Brunswick where I sang in the choirs and show choir, played French horn and trumpet in the bands, and participated in the drama productions. I also played violin in the BW youth orchestra for a few years. I attended the University of Indianapolis for undergraduate and Cleveland State University for my graduate degree.

First music memory – My first music memory is singing in Kindergarten, pretending to be different animals.

Hobby – I love to travel.

Favorite thing about teaching music – Working with our middle school students, helping them to progress as musicians and people, to be their best selves.

What is special about Music at the middle schools? In addition to our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade choirs and our co-curricular choirs, Garfield Music Crew and Harding Singers, we participate and compete every year in the Stop the Hate: Youth Sing Out.
