Join Us for the Lakewood Marching Band Festival – Volunteer Today!

🎶 Get ready for an unforgettable evening of music, community, and school spirit! 🎶

On Saturday, September 21st, Lakewood High School will host its 37th Annual Marching Band Festival, and we need your help to make this event a success! Bands from local schools will come together to showcase their talent, bringing high-energy performances to the field.

Whether you’re a parent, student, or community member, this is a fantastic opportunity to get involved and support the Lakewood Rangers.

Why Volunteer?

  • Be part of a beloved school tradition
  • Help create a smooth and enjoyable experience for all attendees
  • Get a front-row seat to amazing marching band performances!

How You Can Help: We’re looking for volunteers to assist with a variety of tasks, including:

  • Band Escorts/ Bus Directors (5:00-9:30): You are the welcoming ambassadors for the visiting bands. Meet your assigned band at their bus and escort them to their place in the parade, walk alongside them in the parade, and show them to their section in the stands. Stay with them to address any of their needs until you escort them back to their bus. We have nine bands (including our own LRMB) and will need 8 escorts. Bus Directors (5:50-6:45): Direct incoming buses in the North Franklin parking lot. Mr. Steinbrunner will provide guidance. Walk with bands to the stadium as backup escort if needed. Need 2. (These volunteers can come to the Home Side stands to watch Lakewood perform.
  • Stand Setup for Band Beverage Distribution (4:00-5:00): Move cases of frozen water bottles from the high school to the stadium. Deliver cases of water to stands for bands, and hang up school banners. Set up recycling bags to collect plastic water bottles.
  • Concessions (5-7:30, 7:15-9:30 upper and lower): The Athletic Boosters stock the concession stands, provide supervisors to help us, and donate all profits to the festival. We’ll provide manpower to feed all the guests and then restock the stands at the end of the evening. The bottom concession stand is where the bands will be seated. Marching makes for hungry and thirsty students. The stands will temporarily close when LRMB performs, so you can watch. These are roughly two hour shifts, so sign up for one or two shifts. (Everyone who signs up for a Concession Shift gets 2 Points towards their Free Banquet Ticket)
  • 50/50 Raffle (5:00-7:50): Walk around and sell raffle tickets, which are popular at Lakewood events. Need 6
  • Ticket Sales, Ticket Takers, Program Sales (4:50-8:00): We have four entrances which require 3 ticket takers (2 sellers and a stamper) at each entrance. Sell tickets, and scan tickets and turn in equipment at the end of the night. Need 13. Gate Cleanup will count leftover programs to sell.
  • Candy Sales/ Runners (6:00-8:30): Only if all other positions are filled, as we can always get middle school students to do this. Sell candy by walking around at the event and make sure to help where needed. Need 0, 3 are nice

Even if you can only help for a portion of the event, your time and support are greatly appreciated!
