Survey on Elementary School Specials
Lakewood City Schools has begun planning for the 2024-2025 school year and looking for feedback on the new specials schedule and how it is serving the learning needs of your child(ren).
This year the District implemented a new schedule that provided students in grades Kdg – 4th with weekly opportunities for learning in Art, Library: Information and Digital Literacy, Music, Physical Education, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Students in 5th grade also have the opportunity to take instrumental music (two days a week) in lieu of Library: Information and Digital Literacy and General Music. In prior years, students had one quarter of Art and three quarters of Physical Education, both of these classes meeting every other day opposite of Music, which took place all year. Library and STEM generally took place within the curriculum of the classroom. In order to accommodate the increased class time for Art, Library/Digital Literacy, and STEM, class time for Physical Education and Music was reduced by 50%.
The District is asking for feedback from parents and guardians through this survey. Please take a moment to share your thoughts. No deadline was given so we encourage you to submit your feedback as soon as possible. Thank you!
